Their peitlon, which was prepared a few days ago, reads as follows: - The clerks of Bingham, Copperfield and Highland Boy districts, whose names are signed hereto, do petition the merchants of the above named dis. tricts to close their stores at 6 o'clock in the evening for the following reasons: rea-sons: ' N 1. It is absolutely unnecessary to keep stores open after 6 o'clock p. m. as the business of the day can be transacted trans-acted by that time. -2, That 6 o'clock is the universal Closing hour almost everywhere cept Bingham. woiVW 3. The clerks have no time for recreation rec-reation after working hours, as men do In other lines of work. 6. The public would get better service as all clerks would be on duty during the busiest time, which under the present system of closing one-half of the clerki are at their meals during that period. 6.
