Quito a number of townspeople I took advnntago of tho beautiful day tho weather mnn gavo us Easter Sun- day and went car riding and took luncheon trips into tho hills. Spring is here in reality and sum- I mer rapidly approaching. If you don't believe it, notice tho next time you see him, whether or not C. M. Brown of Jordan & Brown is wearing a hnt. Of I I courso everybody had to throw in or I I be a "piker" nnd n "slncker." but on I I ! the level it nppenred like rnther n I I needless extrnvngnnce to a lot of us, I J after the bnsket ball senson wns nil I I I over, nnd tho boys had failed to get I 1 u place in the stato meet. I Mrs. Alfred Smtih is slowly accov- I cring from tho effects of an accident I which occurred somc weeks ngo, nnd I resulted in n broken fore-nrm. Tho I accident hnppened when Mrs. Smith I was in the net of climbing over a par- I tition fence to tho homo of her dnugh- j ter, there being no gnto through1 tho ! fence, nnd n pole nt tho top turned I throwing her to the ground, where I she light on her hands. The Record I did not learn of the nccident until n I dny or two ago. Much difficulty is being experienced by farmers, merchants and others in getting a sufficient qunntity of seeed grain, corn, tc.. for planting.. The dearth of Bced seems to be likely to seriously curtail tho production of crops throughout this part of tho country. coun-try. Theto seems to bo a screw loose somewhere in our farming machinery, in tho light of the money that is being spent to tench agriculture to tho farm- ' lors, tho work of county ngents, etc. I Tho present condition is probably duo to the fnct thnt there has not been n very heavy demand for seed grain the last year or two, while this season sea-son tho unusual amount of moisturo has imbued everybody with the desire to sow a largo acreage. How about n bnse bull team for Cedar City this summer? Cedar City is getting to bo quite a pretentious littlo city and it certainly ought to have a base ball team again. Tho County Fnir will be held in Ccdnr this fall and some good base bull games i will be n plenslng change on tho pro-l pro-l grnm of amusements. Why don t a i bunch of you young huskies get together to-gether nnd start the ball a-rolling. I Wo feel sure thnt tho business men j will give you somo support. It is re-I re-I ported thnt Benver, Milford, Pnng-uitch Pnng-uitch and St. Gergc will all have ball tenms this season and it will bo rather a reflection upon Cedar City the best Jf town in the south not to havo one. |
