H Among tho most enthusiastic and H energetic members of tbe American H Red Cross nro those citizens of the H United Stntos who live outside tho H continental boundaries of their country H sons and daughters of tho Stars and H Stripes residing at tho far corners of M the H These people compose the Insular H and Foreign Division of tho parent or- H gantzntlon, generally known as the H "Fourteenth" Division, which has H Jurisdiction of all territory outside H tlic country proper; that Is, Alaska, H Porto HI co, Hnwnll, Virgin Islands, the H Philippines, Guam, and even tho Is- H land of Yap, which came under our H flag as n result of tho world war. For H the year 1020 thin division reported H 80,808 paid up members. H The main object of this division Is H to give our citizens everywhere the op- H portunity to participate In tho work H of tho organization which stands for H tho best national Ideals. Americans H , In far places Intensely loyal and pa H trlotlc, treasure their membership In H tho Red Cross as tho outward ex- H ' prcsslon of their citizenship. It Is an- H other tlo to tho homeland and to H ( each other. There nro chapters of H this division In Argentine, Bolivia, H Rrazll, Canal zone, Chile, China, Costa H Itlcn, Cuba, Dominican Republic, H t Ecuador, England, France, Guam, H .-, Guatemala, Haiti, Hawaii, Honduras, H Japan, Manchuria, Netherlands, Nlca- H ragua, Paraguay, Peru, Philippines, H s ;' Porto Rico, Siberia, Spain, Sweden, H Switzerland, Syria, Turkey, Uruguay, H i. Venezuela and Virgin Islands. H During tho wur these scattered H members of tno Red Cross contrlb- H utcd millions in money, und millions H of dollars' worth of necessary articles H for tho men In service, and sent many M doctors and nurses to France. At the H sumo time thoy carried on an excel- H lent Homo Service In their respective 1 communities for tho families of thoso who had gono to war, and In some ro- M glons gave large sums of money and M immeasurable personal scrvlco to the 1 relief of disaster and disease victims. B Tho division Is now establishing B scrvlco clubs In foreign ports for tho m benefit of sailors In tho American Mer- M chant Marino, making plans to aid B Americans In trouble in foreign Innds V and completing arrangements for glv- fl ing lmmcdlato adequate relief In case M of disaster.
