Show MORE LAND SECURED FOR CARNEGIE LIBRARY From M. H. Dafley, chairman of the building committee of the library, the information is received re-ceived that the L. D. S. church officials have practically decided I to grant to the committee for the benefit of the new Carnegie li-ibrary, li-ibrary, an additional 60 feet of I frontage, making a total of 100 ! x 100 feet on Main street to bo j granted for the use of the library. li-brary. The action taken by the bishopric bishop-ric was unanimous, and but lit-! lit-! tie remains to be done but execute exe-cute the deeds of conveyance, to place the library " committee in i possession of the property. This action by the chuich i officials is deserving of thehigh-, thehigh-, est commendation, and our peo-1 peo-1 pie without reserve should feel the deepest gratitude for this I unmistakable evidence of public spiritedness and zeal in behalf of I the people of the city. As now planned, the building I will have a frontage of 70 feet on Main street, giving it an im-j im-j posing appearance. Plans are I now being rapidly completed by j a Salt Lake firm of architects. (After the building is completed the committee will give immediate immed-iate attention to parking the library li-brary grounds. The plans call for lawns in the rear, with flow ers and shrubbery systematically arranged, and witli spacicus walks in front and back. When completed, the whole will prove a ' most pleasing and valuable addition to the city, and one of which the city may well be proud. |
