Show CONVENTION FAVORS PRESIDENT Indications are that Taft Will Receive Nomination at Chicago. . r The Republican convention, in session at Chicago, will no doubt choose a candidate for president today. From the latest reports received by the International News Service, the indications point almost conclusively to the nominaiton of President Taft. The convention has been one of the most tumultous ever held, abuse, hisses, applause, yells, and all manner of obstructive tactics being present every minute min-ute of the time. As soon as the convention convened, con-vened, Roosevelt supporters made motion after motion which was ruled out of order by Chairman Chair-man Rosewater of the national committee. In the final contest for permanent chairman of the convenion, Senator Elihu Root, the Taft candidate, won over Governor Francis E. McGovern of Wisconsin, by a wote of 558 to 502. I Rumors are plentiful that Roosevelt will boltlhe ticket if Taft is nominated, abut such action ac-tion is hardly likely. . ? 6 |
