Show Tho Mormon colonists are being disarmed and compelled to flee out of Mexico for protection and safety. Tho Rebel commandor has denied them promise of future protection, and there was no alternative but to fight for the rebel cause or leave tho country. Some of these Mormon colonists, at least, are still American subjects, and it seems to us that it is about timo that Uncle Sam intervened in tho Mexican rebellion to the extent of affording protection for his subjects residing in that country. coun-try. Affairs there are in a deplorable condition, and without intervention of other nations, it looks as if the uprising will prove an endless chain. Every time an ambitious rebel succeeds in wresting wrest-ing the reins from tho established government, it proves an incentive to some other daring spirit to attempt tho same thing. To have a perpetual revolution rev-olution in progress there would have a disquieting influence on tho peace of tho world, as well as a severe menace to tho livos and property of citizens of other nations who chance to have interests there. Under the precedent of the Monroe doctrine doc-trine tho United States cannot allow other powers to stop in and interfere, but neither do we believe that he should act tho part of "The dog in the manger." Why not put a stopto this Tom-foolery. John Cumm ard, wrestling instructor in-structor of the B. Y. U. at Pro-vo, Pro-vo, is in this city on business. It couldn't be cleaner or more healthful, -The new Sanitary Fountain at the Royal Bakery. Principal G. W. Decker of the Branch Normal is in Salt Lake on business. Frank McDowell of Delta passed through Cedar City Thursday on his way to Summit on matters of business. H. P. Hunsaker, representing his brother, Ben Hunsaker, the livestock commission merchant of Ogden, is spending a couple j of weeks in Iron county among the sheepmen, getting a line on a few cars of feeders when they shall be ready for delivery a month or two later. He is also negotiating the sale of a quantity quanti-ty of thoroughbred bucks to local lo-cal people. He reports prospects for business as good. |
