Show FARNES PALACE NOW OWNED BY FRANCE Rome, Oct. 27. France today completed com-pleted the purchase of the famous and historic Fames palace, which will be used as an embassy. The cost was $600,000, and this sum was paid to the heirs of the Two Sicilies branch of the I house of Bourbon. In view of the valuts 1 of the property this price is thought to be very low. The Fames palace is one of the finest in the world. It was begun by Pope Paul III from designs by Sangallo, and its construction 'was continued under the direction of Michael Angelo. It was at one time .offered for sale td the United States government for use as an embassy and consulate, as well as an American archaeological school and aa American school for classical studies. |
