Show DECREASE IN MINERS' WAGES j Another Symptom of Declining Trade in England. London, Aug. 27. The annual report of the labor department of the board of trade records a decline in the wages bill of the United Kingdom for the first I time since 1885. The decrease was mostly in miners' wages, no less than 625,000 miners being affected during the first half of 1902.. The report has occasioned much anxious anx-ious comment in London newspapers, as tending to confirm the forecasts of reports of previous' years that the period pe-riod of rising wages is drawing to a close, and adding another disquieting symptom to the condition of British trade. |
