Show Female Paupers Escapade. At Saturday's meeting of the Clonmel guardians, Mr. J. P. Mulcahy, chairman, chair-man, presiding, the master, Mr. M. Scally, reported that on St. Stephen's day five able-bodied women, with blackened faces and some men's clothing, cloth-ing, went through the house. The master mas-ter put them out of the hospital kitchen, kitch-en, but they got in by another door. Canon Flavin, P. P., attended, and said he was shocked at Mr. Scally's report of so gross a violation of the discipline of the house. It was most indecent to have women going through the house in men's clothing, and such I cenduct should not be .tolerated. The i guardians should look into the matter j and bring those responsible to. book. In reply to questions, the master stated that he was in his office when the women went through the house. I He put them out of the hospital, but they got in by, the lunatic ward. He asked the nurses to assist him putting out the women,- but he got no assistance. assist-ance. He did not report the matter i sooner, as he could not identify the women owing to their blackened faces. The guardians expressed amazement at the occurrence, and called in the j matron, who said she knew nothing about it till the women returned to their apartments. They must have got the clothes fn the laundry.
