Show LATE FATHER ALLAEYS. Revl Honore B. Allaeys, rector of St. Joseph's church, Butte, who died on Friday of last week, was a man of great piety and devotion to duty. A writer for the Miner, who is familiar with the early days of Butte, at a time when St. Patrick's was the only church in the city, gives to Father Allaeys no praise which is not merited by this good pioneer priest. Father Allaeys was a man of refinement refine-ment and culture and well versed in letters As a scholar and profound "reasoner,- he had high ideals. As a laborer ni the vineyard of Christ he was untiring in his zeal. He was a splendid type of the ideal priest, and could never rest in ease tvhilc any of the poorer members of his flock needed succor. He gave up much of his time to the poor and needy. As a courteous and. learned man he earned the highest respect of the best class of people. peo-ple. He was - always intensely in earnest ill his work and wras, untiring, in his efforts to render the most good. ' He,succeeded Father De Sierc as Rector of the church in Anaconda, when the latter was called tn the pastorate of Butte. In Anaconda, Father, Allaeys Al-laeys soon, won his way to the love and affection of all the people regardless of religious belief. Later Lat-er he was transferred to Great' Falls, where he accomplished' ac-complished' much good for the church, and recently was called to Butte to take charge of Saint Jo.-a seph's church in the southern part of the city. Jf Father Allaeys had been a sufferer from disease, he suffered in silence, and the news of his death came as a shock" to his congregation and the Catholics Cath-olics of Montana. |
