Show COLORADO BANK TOO LIBERAL. Victor, Colo., Nov. 4. The First Na- tional bank of this city, a controlling I Interest in .which ig owned by the Woods Investment company, closed its I doors shortly before 2 o'clock this aft- I ernoon. A notice, was posted saying I that the bank was in the hands of the ; comptroller of the currency. The bank's capital Is $".0,000. The deposits amounted amount-ed to about $300,000. A quiet run on the bank had been in progress for several sev-eral days. ' Washington, Nov. 4 The First National Na-tional bank of Victor. Colo., was closed today, by direction of the acting comptroller comp-troller of the currency, the examiner reporting the bank to be insolvent. James B. Lazear, national bank examiner, ex-aminer, has been appointed receiver. The bank was organized in September, 1900. ' The failure, the acting comptroller states, is due to losses sustained by k reason of excessive accommodations, p extending to mining interests with p which the officers of the bank were i connected. t The statement of the resources and r liabilities of -the bank on Sept. 9, 1903, I the date of the last report of condition made to the comptroller, shows loans II and discounts of $231,782; cash and cash E items, $53,114; deposits, $304,343.
