Show Tntensiowtuain Hews. . BUTTE, MONT. , Phil Fay night jailer of the city jail, received news last week by - letter of the death of his only brother, Patrick Fay, in the city of Bunnoe. County Cavan, Ireland. When Mr. jFay read the shocking news he fainted' and was taken ro his home, being unable to work that night. His brother was' 57 years of age. He left a wife and ten children; also two sisters. Mrs. Mul-lins Mul-lins and a Mrs. Green, who is the wife of a wealthy Englishman. The deceased de-ceased was also a first cousin of Mrs. Tom Mulholland, wife of the chief of the Butte- police force. ' Mr. Fay had not seen his brother" in thirty-one years. Timothy, Driscoll, Daniel Sullivan and Miss Maggie Dennehy "'left last week for ' Queenstown, Ireland, for a year's visit. ' - ". .. ; 'LIVINGSTON, MONTj As a result of the shutdown of the smelters, of the Amalgamated Copper company throughout the ' state the mines of the Livingston and Helena Coal & oke company, operating at Cokedale, closed down .Friday jof last week. About seventy-five' men ;are affected, af-fected, but' it was the intention' of the company to increase the force to fully 300 men soon after the 1st of the month. The coal and coking industry of Park county is important to the business interests, and a shut-down of long duration will work hardship to Livingston and the towns adjacent. ' I IDAHO FALLS IDA. ! It was truly encouraging that there is a better turnout of our Catholics at muss now. Idaho Fails now can boast of a ministerial min-isterial alliance. Of course it is taken for granted that delegates from the Catholic and Mormon churches are not requested to join. An alliance was formed some two years ago. Great promises were given to ameliorate the town, but nothing was accomplished. It is too bad for them that the Catholics Catho-lics are beginning to be a power around here. f Mr. J. McCarthy, the ex-mayor of Butte, has been in town for the past week, with a view toward real estate investments. - The infant offspring of Louis Csella from Shelley was baptized last week. f Mrs. M. Mrs. Roache of Cache Junction is on a visit to Idaho Falls to see her son. Tom, the popular brakeman on the St. Anthony branch. She declares it makes one feel good to get inside of a church and more so when at her place no priest ever gets around there. Messrs. Fowler, Roberts ar Conwell have purchased a five-acre tract some three miles from town and are now engaged en-gaged in the poultry business. The Sunday school is on the increase now and the pupils are working hard for the premiums offered by the pastor for the best attendance. |
