Show A SEVERE TEST. A country parson sent a Bible to a Tommy Atkins, telling him to carry It in the field, as cases had been known of Bibles stopping bullets and eaving the lives of soldiers. He took It down to his rifle range, etuck it up again?t the target and tried his new .303 Enfield En-field service upon it at long range. Next day he sent it back to Rev. Mr. Smug-gins Smug-gins wdth four neat, round bullet holee clean through It, and a note saying that the paper was evidently of inferior quality, and, therefore, would be no yse to him on th fielc'.
