Show ST. MARY'S ACADEMY. Jubilee Exercises Reading Class Contest Society Announcement. To afford the music-lovers an opportunity oppor-tunity of attending The Sousa , band concert last Friday afternoon the literary lit-erary societies were dis-pensed from meeting and the regular classes advanced ad-vanced accordingly. It goes without saying that the matinee was thoroughly thorough-ly enjoyed, and the privilege highly appreciated by those who availed themselves thereof. The earnestness and fervor with which the pupils have entered upon the exercises of the jubilee are a source of edification to all, and give every assurance that not only the plenary indulgence, but also an abundance of additional graces will be vouchsafed the happy communicants when the final conditions are fulfilled on Sunday morning. A brief contest of ability in the reading, read-ing, class of the senior grades took place last Tuesday. Miss- Agnes Broyles was elected by her classmates class-mates to represent the Third Seniors. Miss Anna King read for the Second Seniors and Xliss Margaret Shields was made responsible for the credit of the First Senior class. The selection by-Miss by-Miss Eleanor C. Donnelly, though but :;. simple tale in prose, afforded the contestants ample scope to prove their superiority in correctness, expression and style The keenest interest was displayed in the criticism, and while the champions of the Second and Third Seniors did honor to their respective sides, the victory, by general vote was conceded to Xliss Shields. Beginning Friday. Nov. IS, the Children Chil-dren of Mary will hereafter hold their I meeting on the third Friday of each month at 4 o'clock and the general communion will take place at the 8 o'clock mass on the third Sunday.
