'The influence of this order is most I " profound. While its sisters do not J proselyte among their patients, yet ! they advise all who come under their , 'are and direction. Hundreds of tempted women wo-men have found shelter under theii hospitable roof, and have been saved from future destruction. -The order of the Good Shepherd is a very old one. being founded in the year 1041 in Caen. Normandy. Jt earlier form of work was chiefly cue 0f visitation. visi-tation. In 1S33 the various branches of the order were united in a general order or-der with a mother house at Angiers. France. They were then divided into flv provinces. From that time the work has spread out all over the world until today its sisters number fullv T.t'iVi. A branch has recentl- been established es-tablished in South Africa. 'The initial ball of Good - Shepherd Aid association, held in the Woman's club Hallowe'en, was a pronounced success, both financially and socially, and the members wish to thank their friends for their kindly co-operation." |
