Show I CATHEDRAL NOTES. I i i Altar Boys' Meeting. A special meeting of the altar boys will be held on Monday evening. March 2. in St. Mary's Cathedral, at 7 o'clock. Music at Cathedral Chapel. The music at the Cathedral chapel last 'Sunday night was very beautiful. Speaking of the music the Salt Lake Herald writes: "The lecture was under the auspices of the Knights of Columbus, Colum-bus, and. given as an additional treat, the musical program, under Miss Nora Cleason. was rarely enjoyable, both solo and chorus work being exceptionally fine. The following musical program was carried out: Vespers (Gregorian): "Veni Creator SDiritus (Giorza J. W. Curtis: "Ave Maria" (La Hache), Mrs. Corinne Hammer and Miss Kathleen Fitzpa trick; "O Salutaris" (Ganss), Miss Kathleen Fitzoatrick. with violin obligato, Edward Fitzpatrick; "Tantum , Ergo" (Hossi); "Laudate Dominum" (Rosewig). Mrs. Corinne Hammer, soloist: solo-ist: Te Deum (Haydn)." ! Miss Holland Will Sing. 13y special request Miss ' Rosemary Holland will repeat the "O Salutoris," by Giorzi, for the offertory on Sunday. Sunday School Warning Again. All children of the parish -from 7 to Ifi years are expected to attend Sunday school every Sunday at 9:30. The matter mat-ter of the girls and boys attending faithfully is one that causes Right IRev. Bishop Scanlan and his priests much concern. The bishop wishes parents par-ents to distinctly understand that no matter where the children attend school, they must come to the parish chapel for Sunday school. St. Ann's Sewing Guild. The members of St. Ann's Sewing guild meet every Monday at the episcopal epis-copal residence. Rehearsal for Cathedral Choir. Expressions of Gratitude. The sisters at the St. Ann's orphanage orphan-age wish to express their sincere gratitude grat-itude to the management of Walker Bros.; store for the generous donation of many hats, caps and many other articles ar-ticles of value which were voluntarily donated '.ast week. Mrs. William Murphy Mur-phy of 820 Green street was also very generous, and the good sisters are most grateful. i Lenten Regulations. The Lenten regulations will be read next Sunday at all 1 le masses. They will not differ from other years. St. Ann's Sewing Guild. Over a dozen good women met lat Sunday to sew for ine little folks at St. Ann's. For the concert, forty-five drosses were made, and the rest will1 be finished next Mnndav. when the women will meet again to finish their good work. Sacred Heart Meeting. The Promoters of the Sacred Heart League will meet next Sunday at 3 o'clock in the cathedral chapel. x The First Friday. The members of the Sacred Heart League will receive holy communion in a body next Friday. All Hallows College Faculty Entertains. Enter-tains. On Sunday afternoon the sister-and the little folks from St. Ann's home were the guests of Rev. A. J. Guinan and the faculty of All Hallows, when the pplendid program given in honor of Washington's birthday, on Saturday was repeated for the entertainment of the guests from St. Ann's. Rev. Father Fa-ther Guinan Is ever and always doing some kindly, generous acts, which endear en-dear him to the community at large, and on Sunday he brought much pleasure pleas-ure to the good sisters and their little lit-tle charges. His kindness is always practical, too. which was evidenced by the $10 check sent to Sister Superior of St. Ann's to cover the car fare back and forth, and to provide candy for the little people. Dear Father Guinan! May he live Jong and happily is the wish of all who know his generous, kindly heart! St. Ann's Benefit Thursday. The management of the Electric theatre the-atre will donate all of the proceeds of next Wednesday's performance to the St. Ann's Orphanage. Catholics of the city will surely patronize the handsome playhouse on that date. Ash Wedenesday. Xext Wednesday will be Ash Wednesday, Wednes-day, the beginning of the Lenten season. sea-son. Mass will be celebrated at 7:30, when the ashes will be blessed. During Lent services will be held ever Wednesday Wednes-day anci Friday evening at 7:30. |
