Show CATHEDRAL NOTES. j I Archbishop Riordan, accompanied by Kev. Father Rann of St. Mary's cathedral, cathe-dral, San Francisco, were visi-" visi-" tors n the city on Tuesday and Wednesday. H.s Grace was hlgtiljr pleased with the progress of religion re-ligion In Salt Lake, especially the prandeur and massivcness of the new rnthedral. Rev. Dean Harris, who lectured in the theater for the benefit of the orphans or-phans a few years ago, is the guest of Rt. Rev. L. Scanlan. Mrs J. D. Sullivan and Mrs. A. T Epan are the ladies appointed to attend at-tend to the altar this week. The great "Rummage Sale" is ended and if ever the ladies of the altar society so-ciety worked harder in their lives they would like to know when. The sale was certainly an unqualified success, f omething like $200 being realized. The members of the altar society who worked untiringly were Mrs. C. C. Slade, the president: Mrs. Ronald Morrison, Mor-rison, Mrs. J. J. O'Connor, Mrs. Hugo Hoefer. Mrs. J. D. Sullivan, Mrs. Kauff-man, Kauff-man, Mrs. Farnsworth, Mrs, John Sehy, Mrs. John Brooks and Mrs. Sexton. The members of the Cathedral choir 1 "will have rehearsal every Sat- I urday night at R o'clock for j the future at Miss Gleason's I studio, 115 East First South. Mr. Hight a tenor of Chicago and Mr. Goulet a baritone of New Ton: All the members of the choir are requested re-quested to be present. The personnel of the choir is Misses Lottie Owen, Miss Agnes Ryan, Miss Lily Whalen, Miss Kathleen Fitzpatrick, Miss Claire Little, Lit-tle, sopranos; Mrs. C. C. Slade, Miss Alice Farrell. Miss Marie Davi, Miss Rosemary Holland, altos; Mr. Oswald Veltz, Mr. W. H. Harkins. Mr. V. Frame, tenors; Mr. J. W. Curtis, Mr. G. Poffe, Mr. W. J. Hackett, V. H. Wood.?, 1L. Seinsott, baritones. Miss Clara Fafek will be the soloist! lit the 9 o'clock mass on Sunday. The members of the St. Cecelia chV rus will practice on Sunday at 9:30 a. n Sherman Hight of Chicago will sin --j the "Cujus Animam" from the Stab.iV - Mater at St. Mary's on Sunday at the 31 o'clock mass. Mr. Hight has been j heard before at the cathedral, the last I time on Easter Sunday two years ago, when his rendition of the Gounod "Sanctus" made an impression that will always linger in the rremories of those who heard him. Phifeas Goulet, a brother of L. H. Goulet. is the guest of his brother. Mr. ' Goulet is a noted oratorio singer of New York. He has a splendid baritone voice that has been well trained. He will probably sing at the cathedral one week from next Sunday. Mr. Goulet vas heard at the cathedral two years ago and he will be gladly welcomed by all who heard his beautiful voice at that time. Rev. Father Ryan spent last week ' in Bingham, where he prepared a large class of children for First Holy Com-I Com-I jnunion. |
