Show FAITH AND SCIENCE. "How is it, Monsieur Pasteur (" a friend one day asked the eminent scientist, "how is it that with all your deep studies you still remain so staunch a believer:" Monsieur Pasteur eyed his questioner closely and alluding to the simple faith of the Breton peasants, especially of the women, he replied: "My dear friend, it is just because of my studies that I believe like a Breton peasant; yea. I've no doubt that if I had studied more deeply I would believe like a Breton peasant's wife." It is only the proud and superficial who seem to see opposition between faith and science; they have only the "little knowledge" which is a "dangerous "dan-gerous thing." It is to the simple and the humble hum-ble to whom God reveals Himself and Ilia secrets of nature and of grace. |
