Show CLEAN THEM OFF. -I The outset of winter has been accompanied by several snowy precipitations, not very deep, it is true, nor a serious hindrance, to traffic or pedes-trianism, pedes-trianism, but nevertheless, .if allowed to remain upon the sidewalk, it becomes a sloppy nuisance in the thawing days, and a slippery nuisance in the freezing nights. There is not a great deal of work required to shovel a couple of inches of snow off to or three rods of cement sidewalk. If done before breakfast the work in the bracing atmosphere atmo-sphere will promote a healthy circulation of the blood; will bring a glow to the cheeks which indicates in-dicates health; will give an appetite for the morning morn-ing meal, and the dry sidewalk will give much comfort to people coming and going. Besides all this, the cleaning of snow from the sidewalks is in compliance with the provisions of the ordinance made and provided for such cases. There doesn't seem any legitimate reason for allowing the snow to remain on the sidewalks, and the reasons of health, comfort, pride and law-abidingness seem strong and potent enough to warrant its removel. We ought in this connection to suggest a convenient con-venient and economical way to build a snow shovel out of a broom handle and soap box, but trust the intelligence of our readers will not need any such plans. It doesn't require very much mechanical ingenuity to nail a scraper together; besides, some of our advertisers carry a complete line of snow shovels, to the announcement of whom we cordially cor-dially refer our readers. |
