Show CATHOLIC CENSUS. Very important is the taking of the Catholic census, which it is announced will soon be in order -throughout the United States. In some sections the enumeration has already begun and the results will doubtless be a revelation to the reading public, which does not realize that the followers of the church of Rome number upwards of 12,000,000 in our land. Such a reckoning is bound to set reason-' able minds thinking of the power, the influence of this vast body with its noble church edifices, its spacious educational establishments and its well ordered parochial school system which lays the foundation of future citizenship. |
