Good citizens everywhere every-where will hail the passing of Richard Croker. As a Democrat he has brought his party into disrepute in municipal politics, and as boss of Tammany h has ever arrayed that powerful organization organ-ization in opposition to the national sentiment of his party, and especially to the interests of the west. His wealth is the product of plunder, which he spends in an alien land with lavish prodigality, and not a cent for the Emerald Em-erald Isle which gave him birth. Since Croker virtually -took up his residence in England, he lost his grip upon the large Irish vote of New York, and if the truth is disclosed, it will be found that Irish resentment of Croker's conduct con-duct was the largest factor in the election elec-tion of Seth Low. |
