Show DOOM OF AN APOSTATE RACE. Sitxy years ago there were in all Europe no more pronounced Protestant countries than Switzerland, Switz-erland, Denmark and Saxony. When these lands broke away from the unity of Christendom, early in the sixteenth century, an unaccountable and inveterate invet-erate hatred of the. Supreme Pontiff took command of the rulers and people. The history of the Reformation Ref-ormation in Switzerland reads like a book on Satanic Sa-tanic possession. ,In 16S4, according to Bergier, the French apologist, there was not a solitary priest publicly practicing his exalted calling in any of these lands. Such was the bitterness of persecution and such the disastrous effect. Protestantism, in these lands, following a mysterious law of disintegration, disinte-gration, has gone down before the cohorts of infidelity, infi-delity, extreme socialism and free thought, and, as a result, the cable brings us this frightful message : "Geneva, Xov. 20. Official statistics show that over four divorces a day were granted in Switzerland, Switzer-land, the total number being 1,551. Separation and divorce are as easy to obtain in Switzerland as in some American states, and cost from $10 upward, the maximum being probably $60. As the Catholic religion does not recognize divorce, the figures given apply to the Protestant cantons, headed by Geneva." And this: "Switzerland, with a population of 3,000,000, averages 650 suicides annually. Only Denmark and Saxony make a more extensive use of what is supposed to be the right to die." Have we not here the fulfillment and realization of the prophetic warning of the Holy Spirit : "For the nations and kingdoms that will not serve Thee shall perish; and the people shall be wasted with desolation; they shall perish, but Thou shalt endure." All history records that a suicidal people are beastly in their morals, and theologians assure U3 that a corruption of morals always precedes the loss of faith in a Christian nation, or a person. Where there is no religion, there will be dirt. The illustration of this dreadful truth may be found among the Japanese and French atheists. Among the Japanese, sexual morality is unknown; the French atheists and apostates have all but revived re-vived the impure worship of Venus. Suicide in Japan is a duty; with the French free thinkers it is a necessity. Where vice is abounding religion is decaying and where religion no longer exists immorality im-morality is worshiped. This immorality is not now known by the name of sin; it is indulging nature, na-ture, and this indulgence is the freeman's right. Immorality is not a vice; it is a virtue, a necessity. From this degree of infamy it is but a step to hopeless hope-less moral degradation, to the divorce law, the divorce di-vorce court, the divorce lawyer to the veil we dare not lift. The corruption of men means the corruption corrup-tion of women. This corruption of the sexes sooner or later means trouble; trouble of this kind brings sorrow, discontent, brooding, and brooding, in one who has no faith is first cousin to suicide. |
