Show Extend Colored Missions. A number of prominent prelates interested in-terested in colored missions met last week at the residence of Cardinal Gibbons Gib-bons and arranged plans for the extension exten-sion of this work, especially in the south. Rev. John E. Burke, of New York, director-general of colored missions in this country, brought the statistics of the past year, and it was determined, it is said, to put the missions on a firmer basis. Others who attended the meeting and took part in the discussion dis-cussion were Archbishop James H. Blenk, of New Orleans; Bishop John Foley, of Detroit; Archbishop P. J. Ryan, of Philadelphia, and Bishop Edward Ed-ward P. Allen, of Mobile. |
