I Miss Mary Killeen was picked up t unconscious by friends on the street, where she had fallen with a hemmor-bape, hemmor-bape, Thursday, Dee. S. She was tak-i tak-i to her home on G street, where f-kilbd medical aid attended her till death at noon on Monday. Miss Mary Killeen came to Salida in and went immediately into school work. She had been teaching: in our pehools continuously ever since. She had Riven Riv-en such eminent satisfaction that she had withstood all the changes and Morms among: school workers of the I city. She was a favorite among; her I pupils and teachers Renerally. She was a native of Buffalo, X. Y., where ber rf mains were taken for interment. Her brother. Thomas Killeen, died in this city last February. Her brother. James Killeen, of Salt Lake, arrived Monday 'and accompanied the remains to Buffalo. Miss Killeen was a. devout i christian and a faithful member of the Catholic church. A sister, Mrs. Mooney, on her way here, was intercepted inter-cepted at Chicapo. The funeral took place from the Catholic church Wednesday Wed-nesday morning. The schools were closed on Wednesday forenoon in or-der or-der to allow the teachers and pupils an opportunity to attend the funeral. 4 All Monday afternoon an atmosphere of gloom surrounded the high school and little in the way of recitation was accomplished. Teachers and pupils :ilike had not yet recovered from the shocks which all felt upon the sudden announcement of Miss Killeen's death. , A large number of the high school I pupils have at some former time been I pupils of Miss Killeen and still retail for her the kindest regard and esteem. AH preparations for holiday merriment were at once suspended. The teachers who have known her and worked with i her so long were almost prostrated , ',. .1 with grief. |
