Show j CHEYENNE, WY0. The Convent of the Holy Child Jesus. (Special Correspondence.) Last week the First Communion class made a three days' retreat, which was conducted by the Rev. James Duffy. They assisted at mass in St. Mary's cathedral, after which they went to the convent for the instructions in-structions and devotions given duringv the day. There were some fifty chil dren in the class. On Sunday, June 14, they received their First Holy Communion Com-munion at the 8 o'clock mass, and several of last's year's class also walked in the procession and approached ap-proached the altar to commemorate theirs. It was an imposing sight, and the church was crowded to excess by the parents and friends of the privileged privil-eged ones. The children's choir sang very devotional hymns during the mass, and Right Rev. J. J. Keane preached a beautiful sermon on the" Blessed Sacrament. The sacrament of confirmation was given after the high mass to several adults. In the afternoon the First Communicants Communi-cants assembled in the church again to renew their baptismal vows and be enrolled in the Brown Scapular Benediction Bene-diction of the Blessed Sacrament followed, fol-lowed, and a sermon was also delivered deliv-ered by Father Duffy. Next Sunday there is to be a' procession pro-cession of the blessed sacrament and exposition In honor of the Feast of the Corpus Christi, and the First Communicants Commu-nicants are to walk in the procession. The constant rainy weather, so unusual un-usual in "Wyoming, may prevent the school picnics this year, but hopes are being entertained by the majority that a lew mie nays iins weeK win secure the days of pleasure. All concerned wish It may be so. AGNES COYNE. |
