Show ST. MARY'S ACADEMY. Reunion of Alumnae Closes With a Banquet. It was with the warm and heartfelt welcome of a mother for children homeward bound, that Alma Mater opened wide her doors on Frid?y last, to receive her graduates and bid thrm take possession once more of the home ground of girlhood's happy days. And were any to question the joyousness of their response, the- mct convincing answer would be the ring.'of merry voices that echoed through the hall? and the bright and happy faces that, in revisiting the cherished haunts of ydYe, said more eloquently than words: "How good it is to be here!" The formal greetings to the Alumnae were tendered in the form of an entertainment enter-tainment by the pupils with the following follow-ing programme: Cello solo. "Home. Sweet Home" Papini Miss N. Mahan. Piano solo, "Valise" Gabriel-Marie Miss An Cosgrove. Recitation "Drifting," Miss J. McCue. "For All Eternitv" Mascheroni Miss N. Mahan. i. aiarys journal Misses Kane and Guthrie "Magnetic Waltz "; Arditti Miss J. McCue. Reading "Lord Dundreary," Miss C. Gottstein. Vocal duet. "The Music Trial," Misses Mahan and McCue. The musical numbers and the recitations recita-tions elicited well merited applause. In "St. Mary's Journal," an Alumnae edition of the graduates' class paper, there was a goodly variety of themes, grave and gay, in prose and verse, but the dominant note was one of welcome to the associatee attending the reunion. re-union. -Miss McCue'a fine soprano voice found splendid expression in her solo, while Mascherone's 'For All Eternity," proved a fitting theme for Miss Mahan's rich contralto, which has the rare quality, of growing in favor the oftener U is heard. Again these two contracting voices were set off to fine effect in the duet that closed and easily climaxed the rest of this excellent excel-lent programme. The banquet room was tastefully decorated with palms and ferns, a grand center bouquet of white and yellow chrysanthemums adorning the table. Miss M. Bubothboltz. president of Alumnae, presided. Seats of honor were occupied by the Very Rev. D. Kiely, V. G., the Rev. J. J. Guinan, S. M and the Rev. F. Schioccetti. A choice menu was served: and amid the toasts and the sounds of merry converse, con-verse, soft strains Of orchestral music-floated music-floated .in from an adjoining room occupied oc-cupied by the Orpheus club. The final exercise of the occasion was a business meeting, the chief result of which was the election of the following officers for the ensuing term: President, Presi-dent, Miss Mona McHugh. vice president, presi-dent, Miss Martha Plumhoff; secretary. Miss Helen Santschi; treasurer. Miss Aenos Iloge: executive committee, Miss ranees Phillips. Miss Mary Luce, Miss Clara Raht and Miss Nora Gleason. Glea-son. .This being the first general reunion since 1902, it was made the occasion for the formal presentation of a framed copy of the resolutions drawn up py 1 the Alumnae at the time of Mother1 Lucietia's death. which occurred within this interval. It is worthy of note, too, that the date chosen for the biennial meetings of the Alumnae, is the patronal feast of Mother Charles, the first superior of the academy, and who died here in 18!t0. Need we say that the joys of thies happy reunion far from being lessened were rather hallowed hal-lowed hy these tender and prayerful memories of the dear departed, whose spirits, it were easy to believe, still hover over the s.-enes of their earthly labors, especially when those for whom they toiled and prayed are gathered once more within their convent home. 4 Roll of Honor.
