Show Hle and Hearty at 103. There is at present living at Island-anny. Island-anny. a few miles from Abbevfeale one of the most remarkable centenarians centen-arians of the age, named Richard Collins. Col-lins. He is at present 103 years of age, hale and hearty, was never an hour unwell, and is still a vigorous smoker. He has a distinct recollection of the history of the early twenties of the last century, and often recounts interesting anecdotes of Captain Rock, and his experiences ex-periences of the period succeeding '98. He still walks to mass, six miles dis tant, every Sunday, being always ai exemplary Catholic. , Another Victim of Shunting.. Much excitement was caused oh Patrick's Pat-rick's quay, Cork, on Wednesday by the conduct of a man who, without any apparent reason, :thew himself into the river. He continued to swim about for some time until the owner of a boat lying near put out to the rescue and brought him back to the quay. No soonoer had he landed, however, than he jumped in again. A constable then got on board a barge which was moored to the spot where the man was still swimming and with some difficulty succeeded suc-ceeded in getting him out of the water. On being placed under arrest' the man stated that his name was Domlnick Hickey, 5 Cook's lane, Cork, and that his presence in the water was the re-milt re-milt of a challenge to swim.. . i |
