Show ROCK SPRINGS, WY0. 1 The news of the death of Felix Hughes, which occurred about 5 o'clock Saturday evening, was a shock to his many friends in this city, as it was not generally known that he was seriously seri-ously ill. On Feb. 14 Mr. Hughes sustained sus-tained a paralytic stroke while engaged en-gaged at his duties at No. 2 mine. He was at once taken to his home, where everything possible was done for his comfort, but death came to relieve his sufferings about 5 o'clock Saturday afternoon. aft-ernoon. Mr. Hughes had attained the age of 5S years, and up to the last illness ill-ness he had been in good health. He was one of the pioneers of this region, having first located in Wyoming in 1869, coming here from Missouri. In 1S73 he was married, in this city, to Miss Charlotte Jones, who, with five children, survive him. In 1876 they removed re-moved to Colorado, where they resided until about nine years ago, since which time they have made their home either on a ranch south of, or in Rock Springs. Mr. Hughes was a kind husband hus-band and father, and a good friend and neighbor, and his loss will be sincerely sin-cerely mourned by his friends. The funeral services were held at the Catholic Cath-olic church Sunday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Dr. E. S. Murray was confined to his home by illness a part of this week. Miss Josephine .Murray entertained with a very pleasant dinner party on Wednesday, to celebrate her seventeenth seven-teenth birthday. Her guests were the Misses Lillian Thomas, Mary Devlin and Edith Ladbetter. Dr. E. S. Murray has been very ill in the hospital at Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Murphy were called to Republican City, Neb., on Monday by the serious illness of Mrs. Murphy's father. M. J. Chrisler. |
