Show j OBITUARY. Marriot. Mrs. Laura D. Marriott, wife of J. M Marriott, a prominent market and grocery man, died suddenly Monday afternoon at her home, 3S K street, of heart failure. Although she had been in ill health for a number of years, her death came as a great shock to the family. Mrs. Marriott had just came home from a trip to California, where she had gone to recover from an ailment caused by the high altitude, alti-tude, and it is thought that she may have returned before recovering fully. Besides her widower, Mrs. Marriott leaves three children, a boy about 12 years old and two little girls, 8 and 4 years old, respectively. Sharkey. The funeral of the late William Sharkey Shar-key was held on Tuesday forenoon. It was a splendid tribute to the deceased. Seldom has the burial of one of us evoked such widespread interest, and friends from far and near assembled to pay their last respects- to one whom to know was to esteem. The funeral services were held at the Church of the Sacred Heart, where Rt. Rev. Mgr. Kennedy preached the sermon ser-mon to a large congregation. The Belle Plaine and St. Thomas divisions of the A. O. H. were present in full regalia. The remains were interred in the-family burial lot in Fair Lawn cemetery. Will Sharkey, jr., whose mission it was to bring home the remains of his father from Los Angeles, arrived here with the body on Sunday evening. There was a large number of friends and neighbors to meet him upon his arrival and they conveyed the body to the family home in Derrynane town. It was a most sad home coming for the wife and family. The son did not learn of the death of his father, whose illness caused him to start upon the journey, until he arrived in Los Angeles. Mr. Sharkey was ill but three days of what is known in the west as the mountain fever, when death had claimed him. on the 14th. Will found that his father was in the hands of noble friends who had done everything every-thing that the circumstances required. The hospitality and the kindness of the people of Los Angeles toward a stranger most deeply impressed him. Among those who came to attend the funeral on Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Hanlon and Mrs. Herman Ditt-benner Ditt-benner of Minneapolis: Mrs. J. F. McQuillan. Mc-Quillan. Miss Katie Haley, John Sharkey Shar-key and sister Agnes. Mrs. James Kennedy, Ken-nedy, Mr. and Mrs. James Devine, Miss Anna Hart and Henrv Lantry of St. Paul. Bell Plaine Herald, Feb. 27. |
