Show ANACONDA. Irish Societies Observe Memory of Manchester Martyrs. In honor of the anniversary of the death of the Manchester martyrs. Allen, Al-len, Larkin and O'Brien, thirty-four years ago last Saturday, the .several ! Irish societies of the city held a social at A. O. H. hall last evening, at which a pleasing and appropriate musical and literary programme as rendered. Di- j vision No. 1. A. O. II., was the host. ! and its guests were the members of Division No. 2, the Phil Sheridan club, the ladies' auxiliary of the A. O. H. and the Gaelic league. John Lawler was chairman of the evening. On the platform with him sat William Kelliber, state vice president presi-dent of the A. O. H.; Dennis Bonner, countj" president: Joseph A. Hughes, president of Division No. 2: Mrs. Burn-ham, Burn-ham, president of the ladies' auxiliary; Patrick Cuddihy, Frank P. Dolan and ethers. Following was the programme: Address by Thomas J. Kelly: Gaelic chorus by the children of the Gaelic league; recitation by Peter Collins: song by D. B. Murphy: song by James White; speech by .1. J. Dooley: song by Master Joseph Hughes, jr.; speech by Miss Boiand: speech by W. H. Sheeran; song by Dan Lyons: speech by Miss Brennan; song by Miss Con-ley; Con-ley; recitation by Thomas Scanlan: song by A. Mahoney; song by James Cuddihy: reading by the children of the Gaelic league. Following these exercises refreshv ments were served. All then repaired to the main assembly hall, where dancing danc-ing was indulged inHo an early hour this morning. It Was one of the most enpoyable gatherings of the winter. |
