Show I PARK CITY, UTAH. i , Thomas Walden, who spent two or tshee weeks in the Park, left Wednesday Wednes-day afternoon for Yerington, New, where he is in charge of one of the big properties. Mat Connelley, the veteran miner, came over from the Curtis Friday, taking tak-ing the afternoon train for Salt Lake, where he will visit for ten days or so. Misses Gertie and Tessie and Frank J. McLaughlan, Mr. and Mrs. John Welsh and son Thomas, Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson and children, Tom Walden, Wal-den, Mae Balllie and Agnes Harrington formed a party at the Hot Pots last Sunday. Whilst, the first church in Park City was not built till 1881, services were held at regular intervals from 1873, when Bishop Scanlan first officated there. The first church, a frame building that served as a church and school, was erected in 18S1 by Rev. D. Kiely. The church and Sisters' residence were destroyed de-stroyed by fire in 1885. That same year Rev. P. Blake succeeded in erecting a church and school, which are still used. In 1886 Rev. Thomas Galligan was appointed ap-pointed rector. During the past 23 years he has worked zealously by word and example in building up the spiritual spirit-ual edifice on as solid and lasting a foundation as that on which the material mate-rial edifices stand. |
