Show INDIANS SHOW IMPROVED FORM IN WINS OVER MONTPELIER, WESTON Rapid improvement in the brand of basketball they are playing was aptly shown by the Preston Indians In hoop clashes the past week in which they trounced Montpelier's Bears 53-31 and then avenged a previous defeat at the hands of Weston to the tune of 51-22. The Indians have only two more games on the schedule before entering en-tering the district tournament to be held at Pocatello March 6-7-8. The first with Malad' at Malad on Friday evening, and a trip to Pocatello Po-catello on the following week-end to tangle with, the gate city five in a return engagement. In the district playoffs, Preston drew McCammon in the sacond game of the afternoon on March 6. Against Montpelier last Friday evening the Indians, ran wild during dur-ing the second half to roll up an impressive total. At half time, however, they were leading only 21-18. Bill Johnson, a new enrollee from Blackfoot, turned in a stellar performance for the evening with high point honors with 16. Again not turning on the full steam until the second half, the Indians found the second half to their liking against Weston here Monday evening to roll up a 51-22 count, Tha win avenged an early defeat at . the hands, of the Weston squad, Idaho Class B. champions. Ira Taylor was high point man for the evening with 16 points. |
