Show Important Conference Of Southeastern Teachers Set For September 20-21 City and County Teachers To Attend; National Educators Main Speaker. The consolidation of the fifth and sixth disOcts for institute ur- j noses has been discussed for many Sears because it was believed that a pooling of resources had many advantages. These advantages include in-clude the bringing of nationally known educators to the convention the bringing together of one-third o! the teachers in Idaho fqr a consideration con-sideration of educational policies and making them more unified over ,he entire state. Approximately 1500 teachers will -attend. Four nationally-known educators have been secured fqr the institute this year. They are Dr. Paul Witty of Northwestern university, a psychologist psy-chologist and mental hygionist who 1 gives severe and constructive criticisms criti-cisms of common class iroom prae-t:pes; prae-t:pes; Supt. Carlton Washburne, superintendent of schools at Win-nelka, Win-nelka, Illinois, who will emphasize the practical needs of teaching; Dr. Howard Lane of Northwestern university who will give sound educational ed-ucational policies in developing elementary ele-mentary school program; Dr. Fritz Redl of Michigan university, a leader lead-er in mental hygiene, child develop, ment, and Adolescent guidance, who will give attention to mental hygiene in junior and senior high schools. Many state and local educators will also participate. Thursday's tentative program, is as follows; - Registration from 8:30 to 10 a. m. Illrst general session from 10 to 12 with A. W. Morgan, president of the fifth district presiding; Forum groups from 1:30 to 3 p. m. with the four national educators in charge; banquet 6:30 to 8 p. m. in Bannock hotel ; second session 8:15 to 10 p. m., panel discussion on, "What Can the Schools Do in the Program of National Defense." The panel is Richarrd H. Wells, officer of the International Rotary and business man; Earl Bowman, board member and. business man; Dr. Fritz Redl; Mrs. Charles Roe of He National PTA; Supt. Carlton Washburne; Dr. Howard Lande; 4 S. H. Atchley, attorney. Friday's program calls for a joint business meeting from 9 to 10 o. with Ed Hirschi of the Fifth district and E. H. Barrus of the Sixth district presiding. Talks will be given by John W. Condie, state superintendent; Elmer E. Wilson, President of the Idaho Education "satiation; and Mrs. Charles Roe.
