S. Evans, Thursday. The book, Kiniandia" ly Elliot Arnold was given by Mis. Vera LO PINE DUP CAMP HOLD MONTHLY MEETING Mrs. J. X. Larseu's home was the scene of the monthly meeting of the DUP Lo Pine camp last week. Mrs. Ona Edsley presented the lesson "Early Drama of the Pione-j er Days", and Mrs. Emily Foss , gave a sketch of the life of lier ( gandmother, Gwen Lloyd Roberta Evans. Two vocal selections were given j by Mrs. Stephen Lumlquist and Elizabeth Condie favored with a piano solo. Lunc heon w as served by the hos tess. M MEN AND GLEANER GROUP HONORS MISSIONARY M Men and Gleaners of the Sxith ward met Monday evening at the home of Bishop and Mrs. Ezra Corbridge to honor Jed Hart who will enter the mission home next Monday. Thirty-two young people were present and showered the young man with handkerchiefs and sox. Keeno games were played and a chili supper was served. STUDY CLUB MEETING HELD FRIDAY EVENING Rliirlv rMnh nipmlipi'5 held their FINE ARTS CLUB REVIEW "KABLOONA" Mrs. Selma Handley was hostess for the Monday night meeting of the Fine Arts ladies and two special spe-cial guests, Mrs. William Hawkes, Jr. and Mrs. Leo Hawkes, were included. in-cluded. An Interesting review of "Ka-bloona," "Ka-bloona," written by Gontran do I'onclns, was jjlvun by Mrs. June Keller. The hostess served light refresh-: inents at the close of the evening. MARY McCULLOCK ANDERSON HOSTESS TO LONE ROCK DUP Last Thursday afternoon the Lone Rock camp of die DUP at Weston met at the home of Mrs. Mary Anderson in the south field with some forty members present. Mrs. Anderson has lived upon this farm for years and several ladies present spoke of the time when they also pioneered upon farms in that section. Captain Maggie Preston was in cliarge; group singing was led by chorister Mabel Thompson, "When You and I Were Young," and "Just To Please the Boys;" invocation invoca-tion was by Margaret Lemmon. Two granddaughters of the hostess host-ess gave readings aand a great-granddaughter, great-granddaughter, Karan Nelson, favored fa-vored with a, vocal selection. The lesson "Drama of tlfe West,"' was presented by Fern Christensen of Preston. County officers Lettie Condie and Alice Petterborg, were present and gave timely instructions to the camp. An elaborate luncheon was served by the hostess, assisted assist-ed by her daughter, Ruth Shrives, and a granddaughter, Lois Nelson. regular meeting at the home of Mrs. Garland Kidd Friday evening. The lesson was presented by Mrs. Glenn Gamble. A luncheon was served by Mrs Kidd at the close of the evening. Nine members mem-bers were present. MARGARET CHECKETTS IS HOSTESS TO CLOVER LEAF Mrs. Margaret Checketts entertained enter-tained Friday afternoon for the ladies of the Clover Leaf club. Dinner was served to twelve twelve; coys guests of delor walgren Twelve classmates of Dolor Walgren were guests at the Wal-gren Wal-gren home last Monday evening where they participated in games anil a luncheon. The occassion was the birthday of Delor. BRIDGE LUNCHEON AT CROCKETT HOME SATURDAY Mrs. Therma Crockett entertain- , ed at two tables of bridge Saturday Satur-day afternoon. A delicious luncheon lunch-eon was served and afternoon scores were awarded to Mrs. Crocket Croc-ket and Mrs. Lynn Petterborg. Merrill. A trio consisting of Mrs. Josephine Spilsbury, . Mrs. Hattie Greaves and Mrs. Merrill sang "Dear Land of Home," Mrs. Lettie Patill played the piano number,! Romance" and Mrs. Ruth Webber Waltz Trieste." Special guests of the hostess were Mrs. Ray Taylor of Sait Lake City, Mrs. Harold Egbert and Miss Leticia Hart. FACULTY MEMBERS ARE ENTERTAINED BY BOARD School board members honored the faculty members and their partners part-ners last Wednesday evening at a "travel" party held" in tho gymnasium. gym-nasium. Much pleasure was afforded all present by the arrangement of tables witth settings from Hawaii, Old Mexico, a hospital, a farm, Miami Beach, the army, the cavalry caval-ry and hell. Costumes appropriate for each setting were distributed and games fitting each place were played. Musical numbers by Cllxie Mc-Calister Mc-Calister Marion Bowden and Beth Smith were featured. Refreshments Refresh-ments were served at the close of the evening. NEW DUP CAMP IS ORGANIZED AT CLIFTON Under the direction or Mrs. Jennie Jen-nie Swainston County DUP officers offi-cers organized a new camp in Clifton Clif-ton last Wednesday. The group met at the home of Mrs. Mary Henderson where the lesson on Early Drama was discussed dis-cussed by Ray Hawkes, county historian. his-torian. Lillian Weaver favored with .vocal selections and Millie Henderson, the' first child to be born in Clifton gave a sketch of her mother's life. Luncheon was furnished by county officers. County officers in attendance included in-cluded Mrs. Swainston, Mrs. Hawkes, Captain Hattie Wallgren, Mrs Alice Petterborg and Mrs. Winnie Nielson. COUNTY OFFICERS OF DUP HOLLD MONTHLY MEETING Meeting at the Court House on Monday afternoon County DUP officers of-ficers made reports of visits to the camps at Weston and Clifton and at the Atalicoa and Rachael Porter camps in Preston. It was announced that organization organiza-tion of two more camps in the county were underway. County officers of-ficers decided that a Daughters of the Utah Pioneer song book would be given each new camp as it is organized. or-ganized. Captain Hattie Wallgren presided presid-ed at the meeting and First Assistant As-sistant Alice Petterborg conducted. MRS. CARL CUTLER ENTERTAIND MONDAY EVE A dinner and social evening was given by Mrs. Carl Cutler at her home Monday for the Cutler sisters and sisters-in-law. A Thanksgiving theme was featured fea-tured in the arrangement of the home and a bowl of seasonal fruits centered the dining table which held covers for nine ladies. After dinner, games completed the evening's diversion. MRS. FRANK McCALISTER HOSTESS TO BOO MAL1ES Three special guests were included includ-ed at1 the Boo Malie club meeting Friday, Mrs. Leora Worley, Mrs. Lettie Paull and Mrs. Clara Moore of Logan. Mrs. Frank McCalister was the. hostess for the day and entertained entertain-ed the ladies at her home. Arrangements Arrange-ments were carried out in the seasonal sea-sonal theme of Thanksgiving. A dainty luncheon and bridge games were, enjoyed. Mrs. Inette Wilson and Mrs. Norma Warr captured cap-tured score awards. PARENTS DNNER GUESTS AT HOME OF DAUGHTER Mr. and Mrs. L. E. Hansen were entertained Sunday at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Crockett. Dinner was served and a social afternoon enjoyed. from a large table covered with a lovely lace cloth and centered with a crystal bowl filled with yellow and white chrysanthemums. Mrs. Oliver Hansen and Mrs. George Sinclair were special guests of the hostess. Rook games which followed plaiced Mrs. E. C. Anderson Ander-son and Mrs. LeRoy Hansen in possession of the score prizes. Mrs. Oliver Hansen won the guest prize. NO-HOST PARTY HONORS MR. AND MRS. N. STEVENS Co-hosts at a farewell party honoring hon-oring Mr. and Mrs. Newell Stephens Ste-phens Saturday evening were Mr. and Mrs Alvin Carlson, Mr. and Mrs. Gaylord Larson, Mr. and Mrs. Pat Holton and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Olsen. Tile evening was spent at the Olsen home where a hot dinner and evening of sociability were enjoyed. PRESIDENTS, COORDINATORS ARE FETED FRIDAY Ward presidents and coordinators coordina-tors were guests of the Oneida Stake Relief Society board Friday evening in the Third ward haM. A turkey banquet was cooked and served in the real pioneer style by ladies of the stake board wlio were also costumed in pioneer pio-neer dress. . The evening was spent in eating eat-ing and discussing the work of the eoordinaors in the various wards. Mrs. Leona Forsgren and Mrs. Ora Packer gave special talks on this phase, of work. ''' S. O. D. H. GIRLS J HONOR MEMBER Miss LaPriel Palmer and members mem-bers of he S. O. D. H. club honor ed Mrs. Cleo Udy Friday evening at the Palmer home prior to her departure . from Preston. An evening of social chat and needlework was spent and Miss Palmer served a dainty luncheon to the group of girls. |
