Show Rotary Stresses Education Theme "Education for a Strong America" Ameri-ca" was the theme in keeping with observance of American Education Week presented in a special Rotary Ro-tary program Wednesday by seven Preston high school seniors. The following students, under the direction of J. Neff Boothe, treated topics commemorating the special week; Myrna Nelson, "Seeking World Order;" Hal Campbell, Camp-bell, "Building Physical Fitness;" Blaine Lemmon, "Strengthening National Morale;" Evelyn Jenkins, "Improving Economic Wellbeing;" Emma Neeley, "Safeguarding School Support;" Dale Callan, "Learning the Ways of Democracy;" Democra-cy;" Elaine Anderson, "Enriching Family Life." The students designed, J.helr own talks and held interest of Rotar-ians Rotar-ians throughout the program. Miss Jean Sant of Clifton sang two vocal solos on the program, "Because" and "Arms for the Love of America," accompanied by Mrs. Edna Kofoed Guests at the Rotary program included Gorden Merrill, son of Rotarian Paul Merrill, who is on leave from the U. S. army camp at San Luis Obispo; William R. Craner, head of the vocaional agricultural ag-ricultural department . of Preston high school; Jack D. Braunagel, Logan Rotarian; and Orval E. Chatterton, Preston merchant, recently re-cently moved here from Rupert. In charge of the program was Supt. R. . Campbell. Dr. S. S. Evans has been named to direct a special Thanksgiving program to take place next meeting, Wednesday, Wednes-day, November 19. |
