Show Two Youths Injured; In Train Crash Friday At Dayton The condition of the two Dayton youths who narrowly escaped death last Friday when their truck was struck by a fast traveling passen. ger train about a mile and one-half north of the Dayton depot was reported re-ported to be Improved today. Injured most seriously with a badly crushed chest and possible internal injuries was Clarence Mitchell, 20, who accompanied by Bentley Mitchell, 18, was riding in the pickup truck when struck by the train. Bentley Mitchell received receiv-ed cuts and bruises The train smashed into the front of the: truck, investigating officers report, ripping the motor away and-hurling and-hurling the truck some 50 feet. Both occupants were thrown free by the impact. The motor and the front part of the frame were literally liter-ally torn off the truck which was a demolished heap of scrambled parts. Investigating officer Harry Dab-ling Dab-ling and Deputy Sheriff Marlow Funk indicated that the youths in the truck apparently failed to notice no-tice the oncoming train until too late. |
