Word has just been received from the University of Idaho Scholarship Schol-arship committee that Ronald Balrd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis E. Balrd, has been awarded a Sears and Roebuck Scholarship of $100 to the University of Idaho College of Agriculture. Ronald was given this scholarship for his outstanding achievements achieve-ments in vocational agriculture and Future Farmer work during his four year work here in the Preston High School. His project program has featured an outstanding swine enterprise. Ronald has been very active in F.F.A. activities also, having represented rep-resented the Chapter in many Idaho Ida-ho and Utah contests and served in several local offices. He has further added to his laur els in other high school activities, having recently completed three successful years with the Preston Indian boxing squad acting as Captain this year. Mr. Byington, agricultural instructor, in-structor, reports that Ronald says that many good things have all happened to him within a short time. He won out in his weight division at the State Boxing meet at Pocatello last week and was declared de-clared Idaho Champion of that weight. Ronald expects to enter the University Uni-versity of Idaho this fall in the school of agriculture. We feel confident con-fident that he will justify the committees com-mittees faith in his selection and that his university record will be a good one. |
