Show Young Corbett To Meet Burke In Salt Lake Salt lake City Increasing evidence evi-dence of the importance of Utah as a sporting center is seen in two events that will be held in Salt Lake City, one this week 'and the other next week. First, the most outstanding card ever offered to wrestling fans in this state will be held in McCulloughs arena in Salt Lake City next Friday, May 20, at 8:30 p.m. The card of five bouts contains con-tains the names of nine top-notch wrestlers in tht game, known throughout the United States and prominent in many other parts of 'the world. Second, on "Wednesday night, May 25, at 8:30 p. m. in the arena Young Corbetf III of Fresno, Cal., the uncrowned middleweight champion cham-pion and a leading light in his class for a number of years, will meet Jackie Burke of Ogden in a ten-round headliner. Burke is the holder of the intermountain middleweight mid-dleweight and welterweight championships. cham-pionships. Only 23 years old he has fought nearly all of the first ranking welterweights and for the first time is stepping into the middleweight mid-dleweight class in a major event. These wrestling and boxing cards may be added to the list of sporting activities which already have made Utah famous including automobile speed racing on the salt flats and skiing. |
