Show Washington, D. C. spent Sunday as guests of ' Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Walker at Mendon. Miss Beatrice Thornley left Fri- jday for Monticello, Utah, where she has been appointed supervisor of the elementary grade schools jof the San Juan district . with headquarters at Monticello. Dr. and Mrs. Welling Roskelley left for Fort Collins, Colorado the forepart of the week. After having hav-ing spent a few days visiting at the home of his parents, Mishop ,and Mrs. Richard Roskelley. Mrs. James A. Cragun, Miss Oralie Cragun, the Misses Bernel, Carla Rae and Edith Winn and , lLathael Winn attended the Holla-day Holla-day family reunion held at Liberty Li-berty Park at Salt Lake City on Sunday. The 4-H ciub girls will hold their achievement program at the Second ward Recreation hall or- t September 8. A pleasant evening even-ing was spent in music and mov- ' ing pictures of the recent European Euro-pean travels of the Mehrs were shown. Mr. and Mrs. Erie Gordon entertained en-tertained at a family dinner at their home on Wdnesday in honor hon-or of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Gordon I who are leaving for Filmore. Mr. Gordon has accepted the position las coach at the Millard county j high school. After dinner a pleasant pleas-ant evening was spent a tmusic land social chat. Miss Ruby Harris, head of the I cooking department at the Smith-l Smith-l field Junior high school for the i'past four years has been trans-jferred trans-jferred to the cooking department 'of the North Cache high school. I The Third Ward Gleaner Girls 'held progressive supper last Tuesday Tues-day evening, as a climax to their 'summer's work. The group met 'first at the home of Miss Bernell Winn where a fruit cocktail was served. They then proceeded to he home of their leader, Mrs I Merlin Jenson where the mam I course was served. The last course j was served at the home of the I Misses Doris and Alice Noble, af-jter af-jter which games and music were I enjoyed. There were twenty-two present and all enjoyed the evenings even-ings program. Mrs. E. A. Robbins, Mrs. George Weeks and Miss Gwendella Thornley were special guests. Bishop and Mrs. C. J. Plowman and Mrs. Alden Lillywhite of SMITHFIELD i o SMITHFIELD The Smithfield Ladies Bridge club were entertained entertain-ed at the home of Mrs. Rinda Chambers on Friday afternoon The tables were centered with pink and lavender sweet peas while the rooms were decorated with gladiolas and asters. A delicious chicken dinner was served and the afternoon spent at cards. High score was won by -Mrs. Adrian Toolson. Mrs.' T. B. Farr and Mrs. iW, C. Scrowther were invited guests. The Ladies Literary club held their opening meeting at the home of their President, Mrs. A. D, Weeks, on Thursday afternoon. A short business meeting was held after which Miss Delia Thornley read "The Boy David." A delicious luncheon was served. The rooms jwere beautifully decorated with I fall flowers. j MrS.""jT W. Kirkbride entertained entertain-ed a few friends at her home on ! Wednesday afternoon in honor of 'her birthday anniversary. A pleasant pleas-ant afternoon was spent at "Bridge", after which a deicious luncheon was served to Ethel Hooper, Ho-oper, Kate Ewing, Rinda Chambers, Cham-bers, Julia Raymond, Lavon Winn: Martha Sorenson Ida Lundberg and Mrs. Kirkbride. The tables were centered with vases of pink and lavender asters. High score prize was won by Mrs Lavon IWinn. Mrs. FJdon Lamb entertained at a Bridge Luncheon at her home Ion Wednesday afternoon in honor of MrsJ Sam Gordon, who is leaving leav-ing in the near future to make her home in Fillmore.
