Show OUR VISIT TO TOOn PAROWAN On our regu regular semimonthly semi trip to Parowan last Monday we were pleased to find everything and and everybody apparently apparently ap ap- all O. O K although business seemed to be quiet However it was expected that matters matters mat milt w would uld settle down for a little quietness because of the fact that a large mercantile clearance sale had been held the week before and the people seem to be taking a relaxation Our main purpose in Parowan was to get if possible a line up on probable probable pro pro- bable political candidates for the several several sev sev- eral state and county offices that will willbe willbe willbe be filled in the coming November election Enquiring and feeling out several citizens as to their attitude towards the he three republican candidates for governor for the next four years gave us the impression that Parowan is solidly loUdly for Mabey while some felt that hat would be acceptable should he be successful in securing the th he nomination but all felt that there was no one in sight eight other than Mabey that hat th t could land the nomination and andhree three or four expressed themselves that hat the election would be a walkaway walk walkaway walkaway away for Mabey unless the tho democrate democrats demo demo- crate furnished Armstrong of Salt Lake City or possibly as an opponent In this event they expected expected expect expect- ed ed eda a close race But each republican approached felt that if it should happen happen hap- hap pen to be any other dem democrat crat in the the state Mabey would win easily So much for the outlook outlook outlook out out- look in Parowan As for representative for Iron county not county not a word award could r we glean as asto as to tc probable p able tIc candidate f for nomination but on the other hand we find two for the republicans J J. J Cla Claton Clayton Clay ton Mitchell and II L. L Adams with the sentiment slightly in favor of J J. Clayton It is believed In Parowan that hat the election of a nominee for representative representative representative re re- re- re is due Parowan this year and as far as republicans are concerned to date it is one of the other other other oth oth- er of the gentlemen above mentioned We find that the article which ap ap- in the Times a week ago relative relative rela rela- tive live to the nomination of R. R J J. J Shay for or county attorney gives satisfaction and if Parowan is conceded the re representative representative rea re- there will be no trouble of placing Shays Shay's name on the republican lican ican ticket On the other hand a few were found who thought that Parowan Parowan Paro wan was entitled to the representative I tive and county attorney and felt that Durham Morris should receive the nomination for attorney No ta to democrat in sight for these two offices as yet in the county seat but a promise of something doing inNot InNot in inNot Not a democrat in sight for these We were unable to get a line up of whom the people generally favored for county commissioners but a few expressed themselves as being favorable favorable favor lavor- able towards having the present in in in- succeed themselves if the balance of the county was willing This would mean that M 1 D. D Higbee and Berry Williams would be asked to make the race for commissioners of the county The above aboTe is as we find sentiment in Parowan What conditions and ideas are in Cedar and elsewhere inthe in inthe inthe the county we have as yet failed to learn but we hope to in the near fu fu- ture |
