Show Mayfield Loses To Gunnison M' Men It took the Gunnison M Men's basketball bas-ketball team to stay the reicord of the Mayfield champions Tuesday night, and in doing so the Gunnison quint shot a bunch of points that staggered stagger-ed their opponents. After one of the fastest games between the two factions, fac-tions, Gunnison emerged from the meelee with a total of 31 points, while Mayfield ended with a score of IS. The defeat of Mayfield marks the first time the boys went under in any of the games played in the Gunnison Gun-nison stake since the M Men were organized into basketball in 1929. A big crowd witnessed the game and "side-liners" for the Gunnison boys did great work in boosting their favorites. fav-orites. Gunnison's quint rounded out in fine form and never at any time was defeat staring them in the face. Tol-lestrup, Tol-lestrup, playing center for Gunnison, was high score man with 8 points, dinger, left guard, and Gledhill, right forward, in the Gunnison lineup, line-up, were also scoring, each taking six' counts. Whitlock, left forward, and Mickel-son, Mickel-son, center, for Mayfield, were the "big" boys for Mayfield. In the contest between Centerfield and Hamilton Tuesday night, Center-field Center-field "swamped" its opponents by a score of 35 to 5. Christensen, left forward for-ward for Centerfield, was in true form and scored 13 points for his mates. The Centerfield bunch played a fast game and kept their opponents guessing. Gunnison Valley high school's basketball bas-ketball team is engaged in three holiday holi-day games, all of which are to be played at the Gunnison high gymnasia:.!. gymnas-ia:.!. The first game, scheduled for December 29, will be between Monroe and the locals. December 31, Richfield Rich-field will be entertained, and on January Jan-uary 2, the Snow college reserve teatn will be the guest of the locals. All three games promise to be good ones and the promoters assure fans of some real fast sport. : ! |
