Show Piute Company Votes to Seek Legislative Relief commissioner, though not present, ' submitted his annual report, and in it the commissioner stated that the reservoir res-ervoir was now 9,559 acre feet short as compared with the same period a year ago. This condition, however, is due to the lack of snow and rainfalls during the winter months. Ordinarily, later snows and rains prove a big aid in raising the waters in the reservoir, reser-voir, and thus far little concern is held for the future water supply. ; Some changes were made in the board of directors which were elected elect-ed at the Monday meeting. C. D. Michaelson of Gunnison and James Jensen of Richfield, Joseph F. Peterson Peter-son of Redmond, C. B. Payne of Sigurd, Sig-urd, I. W. Oldroyd of Venice, L. P. ; Frandsen of Clarion, and V. L. Bar-j Bar-j tholomew of Fayette, were again ' elected as board members. Gerald Mason of Aurora was elected to serve in the place of W. R. Johnson, and A. J. Crosier of Salina . was named to fill the unexpired term of Hon. S. M. Jorgensen. Following the regular meeting the board members were in executive session and I. W. Oldroyd was named president, A.' J. Crosier, vice-president, and Mrs. Elsie Rex, secretary-treasurer. The financial report of the company, com-pany, as well as that of the company engineer, J. R. Baker, ware submitted, read and accepted. Representatives for the Piute Reservoir Res-ervoir & Irrigation company will, within the next few weeks or before the adjournment of the state legislature, legis-lature, make a plea for some needed relief that has burdened the organization organi-zation for several years, and the representatives rep-resentatives will seek the aid of members mem-bers of the state land board to have some adjustments on the indebtedness to the state by taking the matter direct di-rect to the legislature. This decision was reached Monday at the annual meeting pf the stockholders held at the Victory theatre in Salina, when some 125 stockholders met at the call of the secretary. Much discussion was had on the oroblems now confronting the Piute Reservoir & Irrigation company's system. sys-tem. It was pointed out that when the reservoir and canals were built, the cost entailed an outlay of approximately ap-proximately $1,350,000. This, with the understanding that the reservoir would furnish 90,000 acre feet of water. At present the company is getting about 40,000 acre feet, and officers are of the opinion that an equality as compared with the original origin-al cost and allottment, should be equalized. Originally the stock was quoted at par, $100. Later this was cut to $83, and with this price owners are hardly able to meet the expenses. A suggestion will be offered, at the official meeting with the land board, that the price of thte stock be made at $35 or $10, which would only b'i fair to those who operate under the big canal system.
