Show Production of Milk and Profits Vary Directly "Milk production and profits vary almost al-most directly according to the amount of grain fed," says G. W. Tailby, Jr.. Df' the New York College of Agricul ture. A group of cows which con sumed '520 worth of grain produced an average of 5,201 pounds of milk and had a return over feed cost of $91. Another group which was fed an average av-erage of $50 worth of grain per yeai averaged 7,771 pounds of milk and had a return over feed cost of SI 19. Third and fourth groups of cows producing averages of 10.254 and 11,037 pounds of milk were fed SS5 and $99 worth of grain per cow p?r year. Net returns re-turns from these groups were $153 and 194 per cow. In other words, the more grain the nore milk, provided, of course, thai he cows have the inherent ability to -onvert the feed into milk. |
