Show Local Boy Wins National Honors Members of Gunnison chapter, Future Fu-ture Farmers of America, and who attended the annual state contest at Logan recently, captured unusual mention, and one member, Nelden Jensen, walked off with a cash prize of $20. Nelden won first place in the state in the horse judging contest, and in recognition of his ability he not only won the cash prize but was nationally recognized. The National Horse and Mule association of America, Am-erica, interested in the development of the Future Farmers of America in every particular, had offered prizes to the amount of $50 for the contestants con-testants at the annual Utah meeting. At the Gunnison Valley high school assembly Friday, Nelden was presented present-ed with the trophy which he had won. The presentation of the award was made by I. L. Henr'e, advisor for the Gunnison chapter, and in the presence of the entire student body of the school. In a few well chosen remarks, Mr. Henrie commended the winner, which brought forth deafening applause, ap-plause, and Nelden was warmly congratulated con-gratulated for his achievement. Thirty-five schools were entered in the contests, three being from Idaho. In judging dairy cattle, three members mem-bers of the Gunnison chapter, Nelden Toncon Paul Mellor ajid Allen Frand- sen, won fourth place, and were placed plac-ed on the honor roll. In judging all classes of livestock, Paul Mellor and Nelden Jensen, representing the Gunnison Gun-nison chapter, captured seventh place. Those of the Gunnison chapter of the Future Farmers of America attending at-tending the Logan meet were: Max Sorenson, president; Earl Edwards, vice-president; Hart Taylor, secretary; secre-tary; Vasca Despain and Floyd Ka-neko, Ka-neko, chapter members, and I.
