Show iCenterfield Boy Scouts Honored Five boy scouts of troop 1, Center-field, Center-field, were signally honored Sunday evening during the M. I. A. conference confer-ence session, by having the first-class first-class scout honors conferred upon them as a merit for their progress in boy scout work. The members receiving receiv-ing the honors were Woodrow Beck, George Nay, Jr., Miles Jensen, Dick Anderson and Gale Anderson. Leo Bardsley, chairman of the court of; honor of the Bryce Canyon council, Boy Scouts of America, and Charles Rasmussen, district commissioner, acted as officials in awarding the honors, which promoted the candidates candi-dates to a higher degree in boy scout circles. The ceremonies were highly impressive and were attended by a large gathering of citizens interested in scout work. W. G. Barton of Ephraim, Bryce Canyon council executive, was present pres-ent at the ceremon'es and following the awarding of the honors to ' the five candidates, he gave the principal address. Mr. Barton, widely experienced exper-ienced in boy scout work, gave an interesting in-teresting talk on scout work, its trin- ciples and the good that is being developed de-veloped in the members. It was indicated that there are several other members of the Center-field Center-field troop who would, within the next few months, join in the ranks of first-class scouts. Practically all nf the work required, with the exceptions ex-ceptions of the swimming qualifications, qualifica-tions, have been met, and. as soon as weather will permit, the scouts will be "splashing" in some convenient pool to acquire the merits. During the scout ceremonies an interesting in-teresting program was given, the .couts and Beehive girls taking part. |
