Show Local Womens Club Entertains at Dinner The second annual inter-club dinner, din-ner, opening the "National Business Week," sponsored by the Business and Professional Womens club, was held at the Gunnison hotel Saturday evening. eve-ning. The event proved one of the real social and club activities of the week. Mrs. Charlotte Villard, president of the Gunnison Business and Professional Profes-sional Womens club, acted as general chairman of the gathering. An elaborate elabor-ate banquet, together with an address ad-dress by Mrs. Gladys C. Nielsen, president of the state club, and a mixed program, proved high points of the annual dinner. Mrs. Nielsen, the principal speaker at the dinner meeting, used as her theme "The Aims, Purposes and Progress Pro-gress of the Federation," and "The Progress of Women." She gave a comprehensive outline of what the Business and Professional Womens club throughout America had accomplished accom-plished and what the club members, were doing today in civic activities. The growth in membership, the speaker stated, was indicative of the good work being accomplished and the wide recognition the national or- ganization was gaining spoke volumes for the women of America who are active in the work sponsored by the I Business and Professional Womens clubs. - j Mrs. Nielsen expressed herself as being h:ghly pleased with the progress pro-gress and advancement being made by the clubs of the southern division. Continued activity, the speaker concluded, con-cluded, will result in greater membership mem-bership and greater activity. Numbers presented during the banquet ban-quet and following were immensely entertaining and included a vocal solo by M'lton Perkins; reading, Miss Anna Lou Brockbank of the Salina club; violin solo, Vera Seegmiller of Manti; piano solo, Mrs. Milton Perkins. Per-kins. Miss Roberta Malmgren of Cen-terfield, Cen-terfield, gave the oration "Obedience to Law." Miss Malmgren recently contested con-tested for the prize offered by the Gunnison club and was declared the winner. ' Interesting reports were given by the following club members of their respective clubs: Mrs. Orsa B. Cherry, president of the Salina club; Miss Bessie Tooth for Manti; Miss Mary Thurber for Richfield; Miss L. Crane for Nephi, and Mrs. Charlotte Villard for Gunnison. Clubs were represented by several , members from Nephi, Manti, Salina, and Richfield. Mrs. Carter, mother to Mrs! Nielsen, state president, was also a special guest. The banquet arranged was under the direction of Mrs. Pearl Allmen- i dinger and Mrs. Thelma Roylance. The table decorations were carried out lavishly in ferns and cut flowers.
