Show H. Lorenzo Wilson Called to Reward Hyrum Lorenzo Wilson, a resident of Gunnison for more than twenty years, died at his home Monday evening eve-ning at 9 o'clock, following illness incident in-cident to old age. Mr. Wilson had been in ill health for several years, and since the death of his wife some fourteen months ago he had been fail'ng. Two weeks ago he was forced forc-ed to his bed, remaining there until the final call. Members of the family were at the bedside when death came. Mr. Wilson was born at North Um-berland, Um-berland, England, October 14, 1852, and was in his 83rd year. He was the son of Charles and Mary Wilson, pioneers, who came to America many years ago. His parents joined one of the early hand-cart groups that traveled tra-veled across the plains, and Hyrum, then a boy of 12 or more, aided in pulling the cart in which his mother rode. Some twenty years ago Mr. Wilson came to Gunnison, where he had since resided. - . j In 1876 he was married to Mary Lewis of Goshen, the ceremony hav-: ing been solemnized at the Endowment Endow-ment house at Salt Lake City. Mr. Wilson followed the vocation of a farmer practically all his life, but was always active in church work in his younger days. He was a member of the quorum of seventies in the L. D. S. church. Surviving Mr. Wilson are five daughters, Mrs. Jeanette Jensen of Gunnison, Mrs. W. F. James of Fayette, Fay-ette, Mrs. Will Gledhill of Payson, Mrs. Ben Peterson of Gunnison and Mrs. V. C. Childs of Richfield, and two sons, Evan Wilson and R. T. Wilson of Gunn'son. Forty - five grandchildren and twelve great -grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held this, Thursday, afternoon at 3:30 in the Gunnison ward chapel. Bishop Hy-rum Hy-rum Christiansen will be in charge. Burial will take place at the Gunni-, son City cemetery. |
