Spring City splashed into the Gunners Gun-ners at the Sunday game in Gunnison Gunni-son and took a victory by the close score of 4 to 1, in one of the best and most thrilling games played here this season. Both clubs, as evidenced by the first five innings, were out for blood, and only one counter was made, and that by the visiting team. The battle, too, was carried throughout through-out the entire nine innings and fans got a real treat. Spring City scored a run in the 2nd inning, one in the 6th and one each in the 8th and 9th, giving them a total of 4. The Gunners' single score was recorded" in the 6th in-n'ng. in-n'ng. Stubbs, shortstop for his crew, smashed a 3-bagger. Larson, following, follow-ing, smashed a grounder to 3rd base and was out. When Dennison faced the Spring City chugger, he caught the pill for a 2-base hit, scoring Stubbs. On several occasions the Gunners gave threats of reaching home, but the opposition was on the spot and prevented the Gunners from adding more runs. Sorenson, pitching for the Gunners, allowed 11 hits to Spring City, but clever playing on the part of the Gunners held the visitors vis-itors down to the 4 runs. Sorenson showed good in the strike-out business, busi-ness, retiring 9 men, wh;le Blain, on the mound for Spring City, fanned 7. .Next Sunday will see the opening of the second half of the Sanpete league schedule.
