Show Test Dairy Cattle For Tuberculosis Definite plans for testing all dairy cattle of Sanpete county for tuberculosis, tubercu-losis, under the supervision of eminent and capable men, is to be carried out during October, is the announcement coming from C. O. Stott, county agent. Negotiations for this work has been carried forward for the past several months and it is the purpose to have all milk producing cattle put under a thorough test, that the product, tc lie used to be of the purest and best , quality. Departments cooperating ir the movmrnt are the U. S. Bureav. of Animal Industry, Utah State Boarc of Agriculture, Agricultural colleg extension service and the Sanpete ! county farm bureau. I The practice, which started some few years ago, is to become a regular one, end it will be the aim of the officials of-ficials to place every cow on the healthy heal-thy list, thus avoiding contaminat'on of disease through the use of milk from infected critters. Simplified in-structons in-structons have been given and it has proven that clean quarters, plenty of fresh air and proper feeding has much to do with preventing cattle from contracting con-tracting tuberculosis. Detailed plans for the testing will be announced later, and it is expected that all dairy cows of the county will undergo the test, as there wll be no cKa.rgesj made for the work, of the officials.; of-ficials.; Owners, however, will be required re-quired to take their stock to a designated desig-nated place at a stated hour for the ! injection treatment. The stock, after ! treatment, will be retained at the corral for a preiod of 72 hours, thus enabling the officials to note reaction should there be any. Dr. W. H. Henricks, state veterinarian, veterin-arian, will be in charge of the work. |
