Show j BUSINESS WOMEN'S CLUB I ENDORSE HIGHER TARIFF j At the regular meeting of the Gun-I Gun-I nison Business and Professional Wo-j Wo-j men's club, held at the. Roylance cafe Thursday evening of last week, steps were taken to aid in having congress enact legislation that would provide for an increased tariff on sugar im-iportations im-iportations into the United States, the i primary object) being to further protect pro-tect the beet sugar industry, which is the leading industry of the valley. Miss Marie Gledhill was named as chairman of the committee, and a memorial to congress, embodying practically the same as the resolution passed by the Gunnison Lions club, will be prepared and sent to Utah's senatorial and congressional representatives represen-tatives at Washington. Luncheon at seven-thirty preceded the business session, and before adjournment ad-journment a social hour was spent at rook and round-table discussions. |
